The Maritime Self-Defense Force’s submarine “Soryu” collided with a private commercial ship off the coast of Ashizurimisaki, Kochi Prefecture. The antenna was damaged and communication with the outside was temporarily disabled, resulting in more than 3 hours before the accident could be reported.

The JMSDF set up an accident investigation committee on the 8th to clarify the detailed situation at that time.

According to the Japan Coast Guard official, the merchant ship that collided with the ship is believed to be the Hong Kong-registered cargo ship “Ocean Artemis,” and the crew is said to be about 20 Chinese.
