French nuclear attack submarine (SNA Émeraude) and a support vessel (BSAM Seine) have sailed up to 15,000 km from the metropolitan coasts in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific.

The patrol has completed a passage in the South China Sea. The patrol at the same time shows the proof of the capacity of the French Navy to deploy far and for a long time in connection with its Australian, American, and Japanese strategic partners.

Minister for the Armed Forces / Minister for the Armed Forces of French and EU Florence Parly stressed that the aim of such a mission is to enrich the knowledge of this area and to affirm that international law is the only rule that is valid, whatever the sea in which we sail.
